REPORTS: Former Sofapaka coach set to take over the reigns at Wazito

Former Sofapaka and Mount Kenya United head coach, Melis Medo is set to replace Fred Ambani at Wazito according to reports.

Ambani and Techincal director, Stanley Okumbi were shown the door at Wazito after a string of poor results that has seen them win only one game and sit at 13th on the log, amassing six points from the opening six games.

The two were reported to have descended upon each other with fists after Okumbi returned from his spell as the Kenya Under 20 coach to tinker Fred Ambani's side that had posted good results. Wazito suffered a heavy 2-4 defeat at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz with the result proving to the final straw for the duo.

Dennis Hamisi had been appointed the interim manager after Wazito confirmed the sacking of Ambani and Okumbi on Monday. Medo made his debut in the Kenyan Premier League with Nakumatt and enjoyed instant success with a move to Sofapaka following in the 2018-2019 season.

His stint at Batoto ba Mungu only lasted seven games as he returned to Nakumatt who had rebranded to Mount Kenya United. Financial issues led to him posting dismal results as the team was ultimately relegated at the end of last season.
