ZSL week seven: Invincible Zesco, unstoppable Arrows continue to set the pace

Zesco United continued their fantastic start to the 2019/2020 MTN/FAZ Super League season as they beat Mighty Mufulira Wanderers 2-0 to record their six straight wins while Nkana finally recorded their first win in five games.

Nkana came into their week seven match against Lusaka dynamos on the back of a four-match winless run and were desperate for a win. Fan-favorite Ronald 'Sate-Sate' Kampamba scored the only goal of the game five minutes to time to secure maximum points for twelve-time Super League Champions.

The win takes Nkana to fifth on the log with eleven points while Lusaka dynamos remain stuck on eleventh place.

INVINCIBLE ZESCO UNITED

Zesco United welcomed struggling Mighty Mufulira Wanderers at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Thursday. The two teams could not be any different at this stage of the season, Zesco United was on a five-match winning streak while Wanderers had only managed one win in six games.

The defending Champions quickly settled and started knocking the ball around with ease. Despite dominating possession from the onset and simply outclassing Mufulira Wanderers, The hosts had to wait until the 36th minute to take the lead. Zimbabwean midfielder Thabani Kamusoko getting on the end of an Anthony Akumu pass to put Zesco United in the lead.

Jesse Jackson Were sealed the result with his fifth goal of the campaign nine minutes of the second half, A well deserved 2-0 win for Zesco in the end. Mufulira Wanderers played the last two minutes of additional time with a man down after Joseph Chewe was given marching orders following a second yellow card.

In the early kick-off at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Isaac Shamujompa scored a direct free-kick to guide Buildcon to a 1-0 win over Lumwana Radiants.

AIRMEN CONTINUE SOARING

Red Arrows maintained the top spot thanks to a 2-1 win over Solwezi based outfit, Kansanshi Dynamos. Bruce Musakanya put the Airmen in the lead with a 25th-minute penalty.

Emmanuel Phiri pulled the visitors level in the 61st minute but Bruce Musakanya was not done as he netted in the dying minutes to hand Chisi Mbewe's side a hard-fought win to stay top of the table.

Elsewhere Napsa Stars recorded a narrow one-nil win over Nkwazi thanks to an Austin Banda 80th minute goal.
