New Sofapaka FC head coach John Baraza is out to raise the standards of Sofapaka FC after taking over from Portuguese Divaldo Alvez.
Sofapaka parted ways with Divaldo last week after a string of poor results with owner Elly Kalekwa appointing his assistant Baraza to take over and according to the coach (who has led the team before) they had no other option but to get back to their ‘rightful positions’.
“Currently we have to find our rightful position because where we are is not supposed to be our position. We have a clear picture of what we need and for us now, we have to take each game as it comes and hopes that we pick the needed wins to get to the top positions,” Baraza said after their weekend game against Wazito.
On the game (which they won 2-1) the tactician believes his boys were under pressure to perform and hopes that the win will act as a springboard in their next games.
“The boys were a little bit tensed in the game because they needed the win by all means and I hope it’s the springboard they needed going forward,” Baraza added.
Next for Sofapaka who are now placed tenth on the Kenyan Premier League log is a tie against the unbeaten Mathare United.
