Warriors caretaker coach Joey Antipas has put much trust of Knox Mutizwa ahead of several experienced Zimbabwean strikers.
Zimbabwe will be taking on Botswana and Zambia in the opening AFCON 2021 Qualifiers in Harare and Lusaka.
With the French-based Tinotenda Kadewere and Charlton Athletic’s Macauley Bonne out through injuries, Golden Arrows’ Mutizwa will be the goto man.
“I believe we have some good players in the squad and the likes of Knox Mutizwa have been enjoying a good form of late. I am sure they will be able to stand up and get the job done,” Antipas told The Herald.
Mutizwa scored a brace against Mamelodi Sundowns last Sunday to mark an impression seven goals in 13 games.
The Warriors will welcome the Zebras of Botswana at the National Sport Stadium on Friday at 18:00, before making their way to Zambia for next Tuesday’s clash.
