Zambia Women's national team head coach Bruce Mwape says his side needs to work on their finishing as they head into the final round of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifiers.
The Copper Queens missed numerous chances including a penalty in their 1-0 win over the Harambee Starlets of Kenya at Nkoloma Stadium on Monday.
“We need to improve on the finishing part, when we played against Botswana we had lots of chances that we missed and even against Kenya we had some decent chances but we did not convert them into goals,” he said.
Mwape believes the girls did not play their best football as he felt they played better in Kenya than at Nkoloma Stadium.
“The girls played better in Kenya, but I am happy with the result cause this is what we wanted, we played to go forward in the tournament and we have achieved that,” he said.
Lushomo Mweemba scored the only goal of the game to hand Zambia a one-nil win over Kenya and send them to the final round 3-2 on aggregate.
Zambia awaits the winner between the Cameroon and Cote d’ Ivoire' second leg match which will be played later today in Yaounde, Cameroon. The winner in the final round will book a place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics while the runner up will face South American side Chile in a playoff.
