Lacazette backs Unai Emery amid pressure over poor results

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has backed coach Unai Emery even as pressure mounts on the Spaniard following a series of poor results.

The Frenchman, who is returning from an injury, feels Emery has what it takes to turn the situation around, and that the squad will give him all the support he needs.

A section of the club's fans are calling for his exit, following a run of poor results in recent weeks, but the club hierarchy is thought to be ready to back the former Paris Saint Germain coach at least until the end of the current campaign.

The Gunners have won just one of their last seven games in all competitions, against Vitoria Guimaraes in the Europa League, and have tumbled down the Premier League table to sixth.

They are eight points off fourth-placed Manchester City, 17 off league leaders Liverpool.

"Obviously we're not at the top of our game at the moment, but we remain leaders in the Europa League, we're still in the running in the championship," Lacazette told the club website.

"I think now we just need to work on keeping things calm and moving forward with that,"

"We're working together every day on a constant basis to pick up the slack. The group definitely supports the coach and I'm sure the club does as well,"

"We're a very tight group and we're doing everything we can to improve,"

The Gunners will next host Southampton in the Premier League after the International break, before playing Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League
