Arsenal 2-2 Southampton: Lacazette hits late leveller for the Gunners

Alexander Lacazette scored a late leveler for Arsenal as the Gunners came from behind twice to register a 2-2 draw with Southampton at the Emirates.

Soton took the lead through Danny Ings before Lacazette netted the leveler for Arsenal. In the second half, the visitors restored the lead as Ward-Prowse scored a rebound from his penalty miss. Lacazette scored a beauty in the stoppage time to force a draw but Arsenal fans were not happy as the players left the field with a chorus of boos.

It was easy to see why. Arsenal got so so lucky, Saints squandered huge chances to put the game out of sight in stoppage time before Lacazette struck with one of the last kicks of the game. A ridiculously open match. You need to watch the highlights, trust me.

Soton took the lead in the 9th minute through Danny Ings. Redmond got fouled down the left and Bertrand had the quickness of mind to play Ings, who was also sharp while Arsenal defence wasn't. He sauntered before smashing a low effort in off the post.

Ten minutes later, Arsenal drew level, it was a big moment on the ropes, their attacking brilliance got them out of jail. Tierney got forward his cross was turned goal-bound by Aubameyang but was blocked by Stephens. Who was alive to the loose ball? Lacazette of course. In the blink of an eye, he spun and hooks the ball home.

Soton were awarded a penalty in the 69th minute after Tierney pulled Ings' shirt. There was VAR check to see if Ings was offside but he wasn't and referee pointed to the spot. Ward-Prowse stepped up but hit a poor penalty which was saved by Leno. However, the Arsenal keeper dropped back out to the Saints man who smashed it home from 10 yards.

Lacazette brace

It was so harsh for Soton as Emery men leveled the scores. A brilliant play on the left from Tierney who chipped a ball towards the back post. Saints were disorganized and Lacazette poked home at the back post.
