Zesco United’s 2019/20 CAF Champions League run began with a draw against Angolan giants Premeiro de Agosto on Saturday.
The Zambians’ vital point in Luanda came courtesy of a Clement Mwape first half goal. Group A’s other meeting saw TP Mazembe thrash Zamalek 3-0.
Agosto’s Mabululu shot the home side ahead as early as the ninth minute. But it took seven minutes for Mwape to level the score.
Up next for Team Ya Ziko is a meeting with the big boys. Congolese giants TP Mazembe are due in Ndola on 7 December where Zesco could take charge of the group with a win.
The Mazembe game will also be followed by another gigantic visit. Egyptian and African powerhouse Zamalek will be in Zambia on Friday 27 December.
