Hernandez, now 31, was struggling for game time at LaLiga side Sevilla after a summer move from West Ham United. According to the LA Times, Chicharito will be the highest-paid player in the United States, eclipsing the figure of £5.5m that was paid to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, his predecessor at the Galaxy.
Zlatan scored 52 goals 56 appearances for LA Galaxy last season and Chicharito is his marquee replacement.
Hernández will don the number 14 jersey, one that he has worn with distinction for numerous clubs around Europe in a stellar career.
