Zesco United have moved to third place following a hard-fought 2-1 win over Buildcon while Sensational Zanaco has continued their fantastic run.
Zesco United squared off with Buildcon this afternoon at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium with the defending Champions looking to end their winless run in all competitions. Lwandamina rested striker Jesse Jackson Were and Japanese midfielder Kosuke Nakamachi.
The match started slowly with the two sides failing to create clear cut chances. Zesco finally broke the deadlock in the 27th minute as Eric Kabulo deflected David Owino's cross into his own net to go one-nil up.
In the second stanza, Winston Kalengo doubled Zesco's lead ten minutes after the restart to put the visitors in the driving seat.
The match was stopped for about 15 minutes after a swarm of bees gathered around the Zesco United goal post.
When the match resumed, Buildcon started pushing to try and rescue a point. Mpho Michael Mathekgane pulled one back for Buildcon seven minutes to time but it was a little too late as Zesco held on to win the match 2-1.
Meanwhile in Lusaka Sensational Zanaco made it three wins in a row as they thrashed Nakambala Leopards 5-1. Rodger Kola scored a first-half hat-trick while Kiala Lassa scored a second-half brace to make sure Zanaco continued their winning run.
