Zesco United head coach George Lwandamina says their match against Primiero de Agosto is very important as they want to protect the integrity of the club.
Zesco United have been eliminated from the CAF Champions League after Zamalek held TP Mazembe in Cairo last night but Lwandamina maintains his side will take the match with the seriousness it deserves.
“This is an important fixture to us whether we qualify or not. I expect a highly competitive match. Although in the recent past we have dipped in form, the boys are aware of how important this fixture is. We have to protect our integrity and the integrity of the club," he said.
"We are going into this match to play and to win. You can’t go into a match to lose. We still have to fight and come out of the troubled waters because we have a big reputation to protect. The team will not pay attention to what will be happening in Egypt when Zamalek faces Mazembe."
Captain of the side, Jacob Banda echoed his coach's sentiments saying they are targeting collecting maximum points.
“It is very important to get a win because we haven’t won any match. It is important for us to protect the reputation of this football club. The morale in camp is still very high even if we have struggled in recent games and we are positive we will win," he said.
The Zambia Super League defending Champions will host Agosto this evening in a matchday five encounter at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. Kick-off for the match is set at 18:00hrs CAT.
