πŸ‘‘ The future is now!: Young football stars who will rule the current decade

The last decade served us scintilating football while giving us some of the best players in recent years.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi ruled the decade, but there was also a good number of players who emeged and rose to the top within that period.

Just like the likes of Sergio Aguero, Robert Lewandowski, Luis Suarez, Manuel Neur, and Neymar blossomed in the last decade, new players are set to born in the new one.

A good number of the current stars will bow out by the time we get halfway through the decade, giving room for the budding talents to rule the world.

But who's ready to take their places? We look at a some of the top talents that can become the face of football this decade.

Kylian Mbappe

It is hard to believe that at his young age, Mbappe is already a World Cup winner and has multiple titles and personal accolades under his name.

His talent became obvious while at Monaco where he started his senior career, but many had doubts on whether or not he would maintain the same at the highest level.

Well, three years on and he has proved all doubters wrong, taking his place at the highest table there is in football. He is currently the most valuable player, alongside PSG teammate Neymar.

He is clearly the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's throne and this will be his decade for sure.

Whether in France or abroad in Spain or England, the poster boy of France football will most likely continue shining.

Marcus Rashford

The 22-year-old Englishman was having one of his best campaigns so far in 2019/20 until the recent injury that will see him miss a few weeks' action.

He broke into the scene at a young age and seems to be developing well for both club and country despite hitting some troubles including a dip in form and being played out wide in the last two campaigns.

He has been compared to one of the club's greats, Cristiano Ronaldo, and even though the comparison is far-fetched, he has the potential to reach the highest level.

His young shoulders are already carrying Man United's striking duties especially following Romelu Lukaku's exit and you can tell he will become one of the best players in England.

Federico Valverde

The youngster has slowly but surely gone from a nobody to Real Madrid's most important player in a space of months.

To underline his importance, Real Madrid are yet to lose a single game that the Uruguayan has featured.

He was signed in 2015 and joined the team after turning 18. He, however, didn't develop at the expected rate and was loaned out to Deportivo La Coruna.

He returned to the team at the start of the current campaign under Zinedine Zidane, who was in search of some spark in the middle of the park.

After failing to convince Paul Pogba to join, he turned to the 21-year-old and it seems like the best decision he made since his return to the club.

Who can forget the tackle on Morata in the Spanish Cup final that virtually gave Madrid the trophy? Zidane and company have a gem in their hands.

Ansu Fati

At 17 years, Fati has already made history, breaking the great Lionel Messi's multiple records. He became Barca's youngest-ever La Liga goalscorer when he beautifully scored a header against Osasuna in 2019.

He then went on to become the youngest player ever to score and assist in a single La Liga match before becoming the youngest UEFA Champions League goalscorer.

That cannot be a coincidence, it only shows how good the teenager is and he can only get better.

He has already started a number of matches with new manager Quique Setien promising to give him the chance to develop, provided he maintains his levels.

Rodrygo Goes

Real Madrid beat the likes of Roma and Liverpool to Rodrygo's signature, regarded as one of the brightest young talents to emerge from Brazil in recent years.

There was a lot of hype when the teenager moved to the Bernabeau and it's easy to see why he is worth every bit of it.

Rodrygo became the youngest player ever to net a perfect hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League last year as Madrid thrashed Galatasaray 6-0 in the group stages, and his incredible rise has continued since then.

In total, the youngster has eight goals to his name in the Madrid shirt, and he looks the real deal for the Spanis giants.

Erling Haaland

What a story for this young teen. He is the latest sensation and giving Mbappe a run for his money.

He starred for Salzburg in the Austrian league and made his presence in the Champions League felt as he scored eight goals in his maiden campaign.

He suddenly became a man in demand with interest mainly from Manchester United, Roma, and Real Madrid, but eventually settled for Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old shook the football world again when he stepped up from the bench to net a 23-minute hat-trick on his Dortmund debut, which he quickly followed up with a brace in his second game, again, from the bench.

The kid is something special, a real finisher and he might become one of the best players in the next three seasons or so. Football world ain't ready for him.

Joao Felix

The 20-year-old is among the most expensive players having completed a move from Benfica to Atletico Madrid last summer.

He is regarded as the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo's Portuguese throne and it's hard not to see why. He has not fully settled at Madrid, but it's only a matter of time before finds his feet.

He has already won some titles including the inaugural Nations League with Portugal as well as the Prestigious Golden Boy award for the brightest youngsters.

He will definitely rise to become a global star and the £107m Atletico paid to Benfica will seem like a bargain. How long that will take? We just have to wait and see.

Eduardo Camavinga

Ligue 1 is known to be home to some of the hottest soccer prospects, it's no different this year as European giants are already circling for 17-year-old Eduardo Camavinga.

The youngster, playing for Rennes, is one of the biggest promises of Ligue 1 football, and his numbers back him up.

Real Madrid, PSG, and Borussia Dortmund are all keen, with the Germans ready to submit an offer. He is a true defensive midfielder playing in front of the defenders and uses his immense strength to execute his roles perfectly.

He has been a regular for France Under-21 national team and along with the likes of Mbappe, France's future is secured.

Trent Alexandre-Arnold

A Champions League winner with Liverpool last season, he has been at the heart of everything good for the Reds under Jurgen Klopp in the last two seasons.

He posses an attacking knack that is rare with most defenders and one would feel he is suited in the middle of the park.

Wherever he plays, the 21-year-old is happy for now to carry on his duties at the back and supporting his teammates going forward.

He is in line to lift the Premier League at the end of the current campaign and is living every young player's dream of succeeding with his boyhood club.

His statistics in the Premier League are amazing!

Jadon Sancho

Sancho is one of the most sought-after players in Europe at the moment thanks to his impressive form for Borussia Dortmund since 2017.

He has starred for the Bundesliga side and has 11 goals and 11 assists already this campaign. He has broken into Gareth Southgate's team in that period and is one of England's best young players.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are interested in taking him back to England and you understand why when you watch him.

He has shown his desire to leave the Bundesliga with England his preferred destination, but he will for sure continue in his trajectory ascend wherever he will be plying his trade.
