Kariobangi Sharks 1-2 Kakamega Homeboyz: Muyoti's men produce comeback to go top

Kakamega Homeboyz came from a goal down to beat Kariobangi Sharks 1-2 to momentarily move to the top of the Kenyan Premier League table.

Early exchanges

Sharks started the game with much intent looking to arrest their slump of one win in 12 games while Homeboyz were seeking to go top of the league momentarily with a win as Tusker play on Sunday.

Sakari run

Sharks' first chance of the game came in the 21st minute when Daniel Sakari who is fresh from emerging second runners up in the 2019 SOYA awards in the Most Promising Boy of the Year made a lung-bursting run from midfield but was tripped inside the box by Vincent Mahiga but the referee gave a corner.

Onyango goal

William Muluya's charges took the lead from the resultant corner a minute later as Eric Juma played a short corner to Boniface Onyango who made a run outside the 18-yard area to release a stinging shot that caught Geoffrey Oputi unawares to ripple the back of the net.

Bahi chance

Homeboyz's best chance of the game came in the 35th minute when David Okoth squared the ball to Ali Bahi who had only Brian Bwire to beat and a wide goal to pick a spot bit found the goalkeeper with his placed effort.

Wanga chance

Veteran forward Allan Wanga squandered a glorious opportunity in the 56th minute when Mbehelo Masinza played a through ball to the former Tusker forward who had only the keeper to beat but Brian Bwire rushed off his line and made himself big to save his shot.

Onyango goal

Homeboyz finally pulled level two minutes later when Masinza who was making precise deliveries found Kennedy Otieno with his free-kick as the former Posta Rangers defender hit a bullet header that left Bwire rooted to the ground.

Bahi goal

Homeboyz completed the comeback in the 81st minute when a long ball from defense found Ali Bahi totally unmarked and he beat the offside trap to take a touch before releasing a looping shot that caught Bwire off his line to bounce into the goal.
