South African side Mamelodi Sundowns have refuted claims that they are planning to host Italian giants Juventus and Spanish champions Barcelona in South Africa for their 50th anniversary later this year.
South African media has been awash with reports that Msandawana was planning to bring Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to feature in a mini-tournament to celebrate the club's half-century.
In a strongly-worded statement posted on their social media pages, The Brazilians said those rumours have been planted in the media to cause a stir in their camp.
"It has come to our attention that there have been several stories circulating, claiming that Mamelodi Sundowns will be bringing international teams such as FC Barcelona and Juventus amongst others to South Africa. We would like to refute these stories as there is no truth to them," the statement read in part.
The Pretoria side is the only team that has flown in Barcelona into South Africa. The first time, Ronaldinho led Barca in beating The Brazilians 2-1 and later in 2018, Messi captained the Spanish side to 3-1 victory over their African counterparts.
