Shkodran Mustafi’s latest post about communication on twitter looks like a dig at his former boss Unai Emery, who was said to be poor in English and that strained communication with the squad.
Mustafi shared a photo of himself sitting next to current manager Mikel Arteta with the caption, ‘communication is the key to improvement’.
During his time with the Gunners, reports kept emerging that several players struggled to understand what Unai was saying with a few also reported to have openly mocked the former Sevilla man’s grasp of English, in particular his use of the phrase ‘good evening’.
A number of players have also admitted that things weren’t quite right with Emery in charge.
Goalkeeper Bernd Leno went as far to say the squad was a ‘mess’ and the three-time Europa League winning manager’s instructions were ‘confusing’.
Things are however looking up for Mustafi under new manager Arteta and the 27-year-old has started in each of the Gunners’ last three Premier League matches.
Since taking over at the Emirates, however, the Gunners have had mixed fortunes on the pitch, with just one league win in seven.
