Odion Ighalo banned from Man United training grounds

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United's latest January addition, Odion Ighalo has been stopped from accessing the club's training facilities over fears of a potential coronavirus risk.

The 30-year-old joined the Red Devils on loan from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua until the end of the season and has not traveled to Spain with the rest of the squad for warm-weather training during this winter break, but has instead been working with a personal trainer at a separate location in Manchester.

Reports in England now say that United took an extra step in its precautionary measures, and asked Ighalo to stay away from the club's facilities while he is still within the mandated 14-day incubation period.

While the chances of Ighalo being infected with the virus are close to none, United considered it the most sensible course of action for him to train away, to minimize the risk of infection to players and staff.

On why he did not join the rest of the team in Spain, Solskjaer said: "Odion will stay in Manchester, because since he has come from China in the last 14 days, the news of the virus there means we're not sure if he's going to be allowed back into England if he leaves the country again.

"So he's staying here working with a personal coach on an individual program and his family then can settle in England as well. That's a plus.

"Of course, he might have liked to have come with the players and got to know them, but we don’t want to take that risk [of potential border restrictions tightening]."

Ole, however, also believes that after this probation period, Ighalo will be assessed and he will make the trip to Stamford Bridge on Monday, ahead of United's vital clash with Chelsea.
