Can Liverpool beat Arsenal's unbeaten record? Arsene Wenger gives his verdict

Arsene Wenger believes Liverpool have what it takes to beat the record run of unbeaten games in the Premier League set by his former club Arsenal.

Liverpool are 22 points clear at the top of Premier League table, having picked 76 points from a possible 78. Over the weekend, the Reds extended their unbeaten run to 43 and Wenger has backed Jurgen Klopp's men to go the whole season without a loss.

In 2003/04 season, Arsenal under Wenger went for 49 matches without a loss which ran into the following season. Assessing Liverpool's performance in this campaign, the Frenchman believes the Reds have what it takes to go unbeaten.

"They are doing exceptionally well. They put a team together that is very efficient, very consistent and has good fighting qualities as well, so let’s see," he told Sporf.

"The records are there to be beaten and they can do it. He has to fight for himself and I would completely understand that," he said when asked whether he would be sad to see Klopp take his record.

"If they do it we will congratulate, but we will see,’ said the German. ‘Liverpool has done, I think, lucky spells already, but it’s probably because they worked harder than the other ones. ‘If they keep going they deserve it, but it’s a long way."

The Kopps will be up against West Ham United on Monday as they look to bounce back following a 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
