🇺🇬 Charles Ayieko takes over as Maroons FC head coach

Uganda Premier League side Maroons FC has appointed Charles Ayiekoh as the head coach for the rest of the season.

Ayiekoh edged out former BUL FC tactician Peter Onen in the race to take over from the sacked Douglas Bamweyana. Maroons kicked Bamweyana and his staff as well as the chief executive after a string of poor results.

The Uganda Prisons-funded side is currently 14th on the 16-team log with 24 points, two ahead of Proline and Tooro United.

“I am delighted to have got the Maroons Football Club head coach job. With confidence, I will work with the available players to save the club from relegation” he noted.

“I have worked with some of the players available at the club and confident that we shall do the job (saving the club from relegation)” he added.

Ayiekoh has been without since he was fired from the same role at Jinja-based Busoga United in June last year. He comes to Maroons with a rich CV that includes stints at Vipers, Police, Nyamityobora, Tooro United, the Uganda U-23 national team (assistant coach to Richard Wasswa Bbosa), Busoga Province team (FUFA Drum competition) and lately Busoga United.
