Bafana Bafana’s new squad for Sao Tao & Principe came with expected changes but a handful of omissions and new calls has done more than enough to cause several shock waves.

While there are a total of 11 decisions made in the new squad Ntseki announced this morning, two of these have been forced by injuries: Thapelo Morena and Kermit Erasmus.

It is worth noting that all the ‘new’ names exclude debut call-ups. Instead, there are returns of former Bafana regulars ending long-running absences.

The new group has seen changes from the goalkeeping department to defence, midfield and attack.

Here’s the total of 11 ins & outs:

Goalkeepers:

  • Out: Ricardo Goss (Bidvest Wits), Darren Keet (OH Leuven‚ Belgium)
  • In: Itumeleng Khune (Kaizer Chiefs), Brendon Peterson (Bidvest Wits.

Defenders:

  • Out: Thapelo Morena (Sundowns), Thamsanqa Mkhize (CT City)
  • In: Reeve Frosler (Chiefs), Thabo Matlaba (Leopards).

Midfielders:

  • Out: Kamo Mokotjo (Brentford - injured), Bongani Zungu (Amiens), Thato Mokeke (CT City), Mothobi Mvala (H Park), Aubrey Modiba (SuperSport)
  • In: Gladwin Shitolo (Arrows), George Maluleka (Chiefs), Tebogo Mokoena(SuperSport), Lebo Manyama (Chiefs), Andile Jali (Sundowns).


Strikers:

  • Out: Kermit Erasmus (CT City- injured)
  • In: Thabiso Kutumela (Maritzburg).

Ntseki's Bafana will face Sao Tome on Friday 27 March at the FNB Stadium before traveling for the return leg on Tuesday 31 March.
