KCCA FC head coach Mike Hillary Mutebi says he is keen to continue giving academy players the opportunity to prove themselves at the big stage.
Mutebi was speaking to the club's official website following a Ugandan Cup match between Doves FC and KCCA where his side booked a spot in the quarter-finals of the 46th edition of the tournament.
"We have a responsibility to usher new talent to this football club, just like it has been over the years. And nothing beats ushering talent that knows the philosophy of the club. That is why we shall insist on giving a chance to some of the players from our development side," Mutebi told www.kccafc.co.ug.
"Just like we did with Poloto, Okello, Anaku, Kizza, and others, we shall continue to do so even with the current crop of players."
"We believe in these kids and we want to start a few of them when they are still young as we continue to follow their development."
KCCA registered a 1-0 win over Doves FC thanks to Anaku Sadat's 12th-minute strike. In the match, Mutebi handed Juma Ibrahim a full senior debut as well as Mwanje Elvis who came in as a substitute in the victory.
"The boys that we have nurtured from our development side played well against Doves FC and it reflects the amazing work the other coaches are doing with the junior team. We will keep giving them (soccer academy players) an opportunity to have them gain more experience when they are still young and this will help us as a club in the long run."
Mukisa Simon, Sebulime Pius, and Otim Jerome all made the matchday squad against Doves but did not play.
