REPORTS: Premier League set for June return

The Premier League might return in June with the league officials and the UK government being in talks for the same.

Reports from The Mirror claims that talks are on advanced stage between the two bodies with a tentative agreement for matches to restart behind closed doors already in place.

To try and convince as many fans as possible not to try and attend games, talks are also ongoing with TV companies to show more games, including on terrestrial TV.

The move, however, is not guaranteed with the government keen to get the green light from health officials about the issue of the virus.

Further delays may be expected but if the situation doesn’t turn for the better with a World Cup-style of format already being suggested this despite a section of players and former footballers calling for the current to be scrapped.

Meanwhile, FIFA is planning to confirm an indefinite extension to the current campaign. This would allow individual country’s authorities to determine when the season ends. It would also permit contract extensions for players whose deals run out on June 30th and alter the dates of the summer transfer window.

The move is aimed at helping clubs extend contracts of players who had their deals expiring by June 30.
