Werder Bremen's Bundesliga survival hopes were on Sunday hit after a 1-0 home loss to Wolfsburg.
Wout Weghorst’s 82nd-minute header was enough to give the visitors the maximum points, pushing the hosts deeper into the relegation zone.
With only four rounds of Bundesliga fixtures remaining, Bremen's 39-year stay in the German top-flight seems to be coming to an end.
The loss left second from bottom Bremen six points off 15th-placed Mainz as Wolfburg moved up to sixth in the standings.
The win was also Wolfsburg's first against their Sunday opponents in four-and-half years.
Prior to the kick-off, both sides showed solidarity with the Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd, by taking a knee.
Schalke's poor run continues
Elsewhere, Union Berlin picked a valuable point at home against a disappointing Schalke 04 in the second match of the day.
Berlin took the lead on the 11th minute through Robert Andrich, but on-loan Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny equalized with a 25-yard strike into the bottom corner to share the spoils.
It was Schalke's 12th match without a win, with Jonjoe's goal only their second in their last five Bundesliga games.
The Blues seemed to be in the mix for a Champions League spot mid-way through the season, but have dropped immensely with their last win coming on Jan. 17.
They have now equaled the club’s worst-ever winless run set in the 1993/94 season.

Augsburg should have taken the lead on the 27th minute, but Florian Niederlechner could not find the net from the spot.
Anthony Modeste thought to have scored the all-important goal for Koln with four minutes to go, but Philipp Max equalized two minutes later to see the teams share the points.
