Werder Bremen's Leonardo Bittencourt has said that the only way they can avoid relegation from Bundesliga is to get maximum points from their two remaining matches.
In an interview published on the club website, Bittencourt admitted that they are in a very position but they have to dig themselves out.
"We need to win both games, regardless of what the other teams do," he said, assessing the table situation.
"I think it’s easier to chase than to be chased. Since we’ve been in this situation for the whole season, it could help us now at the end."
Werder Bremen remaining matches will see them travel to Mainz before hosting Koln in their final game.
The Green-Whites are currently in 17th position with 28 points one adrift of Fortuna Dusseldorf and six behind Mainz.
Despite Werder’s tricky situation, Bittencourt is thinking positively about the final two games: "We’ve already done what nobody believed we could. We beat Freiburg and Schalke, picked up a point in Gladbach and improved our goal difference in Paderborn. We’re on a bit of a roll, which has given us wind in our sails. We can look at the remaining two games as two cup finals."
