Mick McCarthy linked with vacant manager role at Bristol City following Lee Johnson sacking

Former Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy has reportedly been linked with a move to English Championship side Bristol City as per Birmingham Live reports.

The Sun reported on Sunday that McCarthy has made himself available for the vacant role following the sacking of Lee Johnson.

Johnson was sacked with immediate effect following the side's fourth successive defeat; this came after their 1-0 loss to Cardiff City.

Former Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has been linked with the vacant position - he previously managed Bristol from 1999-2000.

The Sun further added that McCarthy is ready to hit the ground running after leaving his role with Ireland back in April.

The 61-year-old's last stint at a club was with Ipswich where he spent six years with the side and the previous five had been spent with Wolverhampton Wanderers during their days in the Championship.
