Arsenal fail in appeal against Nketiah's red card

Eddie Nketiah will serve a three-match suspension after Arsenal failed in their appeal against the forward's red card.

Nketiah was sent off during Arsenal's 1-1 draw against Leicester following a challenge on James Justin. The 21-year-old only lasted for four minutes before he was given his marching orders by centre referee Chris Kavanagh. He was initially given a yellow card for his high challenge on Justin but Kavanagh changed the card to red after consulting VAR.

The north London side attempted to get the decision overturned on the grounds of wrongful dismissal, but the FA have now officially upheld Nketiah's three-match ban.

The England international will miss his side's three upcoming matches against Tottenham, Liverpool and FACup game against Manchester City.
