Manchester United defender Luke Shaw was withdrawn in the club’s 2-2 draw against Southampton on Monday night with the club fans left worried about their player.
Shaw appeared as though he had rolled his ankle and despite trying to run off the injury earlier, he was soon taken off the field after failing to hold on for longer.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the game confirmed that the English defender twisted his ankle and they were to wait for a scan to reveal the extent of the injury.
Shaw had to be substituted with Brandon Williams taking his place only for the youngster to get substituted too after later after a collision with an opposition.
The setback saw midfielder Fred having to play the rest of the game as a left-back as the home side were reduced to ten men.
The injury leaves United with no natural left-backs and Solskjaer will hope that one of them can be able to be fit ahead of their season-ender that includes ties in the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Europa League.
Shaw has been in fine form for Solskjaer’s side this season and his injury will be a blow to United as they seek to qualify for the Champions League that has Chelsea and Leicester City as the other teams battling for the spot.
