News out of Scotland reports that Rangers FC and Bongani Zungu have edged closer to finalizing a deal.
As previously posted on Futaa this month, Zungu is the subject of a transfer to Steven Gerrard's Rangers FC.
According to a latest update from a leading Scottish publication, Zungu’s French club Amiens have given the player and Rangers the go-ahead to negotiate terms - which has began with the British club tabling an offer for the Bafana Bafana central midfielder.
“Rangers have stepped closer to finalising a move for South African international Bongani Zungu after opening contract talks with the Amiens midfielder,” wrote the Scotsman.
‘Now, with matters having progressed since then, the Gers have been given the go-ahead to discuss personal terms with Zungu, and are offering him a long-term deal at Ibrox that could potentially run beyond the 27-year-old’s 30th birthday.
“It is thought that Gerrard’s side would need to have made an offer in the region of €4million (around £3.6m) in order to persuade his current French employers to sell, and the progression into personal talks would suggest that there is now at least a preliminary club-to-club agreement,” added the report.
Meanwhile Futaa will be keeping a very close eye on both Rangers and Zungu’s updates.
