Bongani Zungu’s proposed deal to join Rangers FC is now more doubtful rather than a certainty.
As reported here on Futaa, the Amiens central midfielder in Ligue 1, had his club and Scottish giants Rangers, agree on a reported fee of €4 m, but personal terms are now a stumbling block.
“Talks remain ongoing regarding Bongani Zungu’s potential move to Rangers from French side, Amiens, however there’s still some work to be done on the deal,” reported The Scotsman.
“It’s thought that, in terms of length, a four-year deal – three years with a one-year option – was agreed upon by the parties as the 27-year-old took a step closer to joining Steven Gerrard’s side, but personal terms have still not been finalised and the move has been thrown into doubt.
The outlet further suggested that the towering central midfielder is also wanted by a couple of teams in Spain’s La Liga and Italy’s Serie A.
“Zungu is known to be a wanted man with clubs in Spain’s LaLiga and Italy’s Serie A said to be keeping a close eye on his situation, and they may be prepared to swoop in should be it become apparent that the former Vitoria de Guimaraes man is still available.
“There had been reports that the player had been in the UK recently ahead of a potential move, though there has been no confirmation of that and – at present – he is currently training with Luka Elsner and his teammates in Northern France,” concluded the report.
It now remains to be seen if the move to Rangers will eventually get sealed or if Zungu’s future lies elsewhere.
