🏅 Top five most-defining moments of Brazilian Ronaldo's career

Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, commonly known as Ronaldo, came, saw, and conquered the world of football in a unique way.

At his prime, O Fenômeno had everything you'd want to see in a modern striker; pace, strength, skills, and incomparable finishing ability.

He starred for Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and the Brazil national team, winning numerous titles as he cemented his place as one of the best, if not best players to ever play the beautiful game.

We take a look at some of the most defining moments in football.

🪄 Magical debut for Real Madrid

On September 1 2002, Ronaldo signed for Real Madrid for €46 million, and his shirt sales broke all records on the first day.

His was to wait for a little longer before making his debut, but it was worth the wait.

He came on as a second-half substitute against Alaves almost two months after his arrival and scored just 60 seconds after taking on to the pitch, before adding a second 15 minutes later as the Los Blancos won 5-2.

He was given a standing ovation at the final whistle, and it marked the start of a wonderful journey for the player, club, and the fans.

🏅 World Cup top scorer

The 2006 Wolrd Cup was disastrous for Brazil, but Ronaldo made history, as his goal against Ghana during the event in Germany saw him reach 15 World Cup goals, breaking Gerd Muller's record.

It's a record that still stands, and will take a special player to break.

🏅 🏅 🏅 World Player of the Year awards

He won three World Player of Year awards (now known as the Ballon d'Or) with three different clubs; (Barca, Inter and Madrid).

He remains the youngest recipient of the award when he won his first in 1996, with his last coming in 2002, while at Real Madrid.

⚽ ⚽ ⚽ Hattrick at Old Trafford

Ronaldo revealed in 2019 that this was his favourite moment in his illustrious football career. The striker memorably struck a hattrick against Alex Furguson's Man United, in a 4-3 defeat, but Real Madrid qualified on aggregate.

⚽ ⚽ Double in Wolrd Cup final

Having suffered heartache in the previous World Cup final, Ronaldo arrived in Japan with the Brazilian national team hoping to right the wrongs, and he did exactly that.

He led the Selecao to their fifth world title and memorably grabbed a brace against Germany in the finals.

He was also the top scorer, endearing himself even more to football fans.
