South Africa’s national side Bafana Bafana suffered merchandise blushes before the main embarrassment of losing to Zambia last weekend.
Bafana began the week under a storm of scathing criticism on the launch video and kit design by Lecoq Sportif who took over from Nike.
The worst followed on Sunday in an international friendly against Chipolopolo, when unexpected rain fell on the Rustenberg Stadium pitch, and having no jackets from the new technical sponsor, coach Molefi Ntseki was spotted on live TV wearing the old sponsor’s jacket which was concealed with black tape.
The image drew wide ridicule from Bafana fans on Twitter, as the team also went on to lose 2-1 against neighbouring minnows Zambia.
