South Africa's Pitso Mosimane led his Egyptian giants Al Ahly to a 2-0 first leg away win over Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Casablanca in Saturday night's semi-final game.
Mosimane earned the win just three weeks after joining the Red Devils from Mamelodi Sundowns where he won a treble last season.
In what is described as a tactical and discplined masterclass, Ahly took the lead through Mohamed Magdi on four minutes. Africa's team of the century found the second via Tunisian defender Ali Maloul from the penalty spot on 62 minutes.
The second leg is set for the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria on Friday night, where a draw or win will set up a final against the winners between Morocco's Raja Casablanca and Egypt's Zamalek.
Meanwhile, Mosimane is on course to lift the Egyptian Premier League after he arrived a week after the club sealed the title with seven games to go.
