A deeply emotional moment happened in Atlantis last weekend as local boy Roy-Keane Avontuur made a DStv Premiership debut.
The 17-year-old was only announced by Stellenbosch FC as a new signing on Saturday, before starting his career at the highest level on Sunday, where he came on as a sub on 75 minutes.
The attacking midfielder arrived at the club just over a week ago for trials in the reserve team, but showed so much quality he was signed straight to the senior side.

A little over 10 days later, he made his first appearance in South Africa’s top division during last Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Swallows FC.
The surreal dream moment was captured by his family and community, experiencing the emotive moment with him in real time, before the video went on to warm hearts in social media.
In the video, where a humble TV set lights a dark room, the group features a group of 7 to 9 year-old boys who are said to be Avontuur’s friends he loves to play with as a gentle giant.
