The Premier Soccer League is back this evening after a weekend of MTN8 action, and there's banging action to expect.
The league strangely restarted on Tuesday night with an odd game, where Chippa United beat Maritzrburg United 3-1 in Port Elizabeth. And rather a bit bizarrely, Wednesday night will see seven games all kicking off at 19:30.
As popularity dictates, big attention will be in Johannesburg as Kaizer Chiefs host newbies TS Galaxy, Orlando Pirates arriving in the Free State to visit Celtic, and the champions Mamelodi Sundowns in Cape Town for the Citizens.
Here’s what we expect from all 14 clubs in action this evening:
- Celitc vs Pirates
Pirates have an emotional drive and confidence after smashing Chiefs 3-0 last weekend, while head coach Josef Zinnbauer is away in Germany to support his critically injured son. But Siwelele’s biggest strength is a thick wall (only three goals conceded in four games).
Prediction: Celtic 1-2 Pirates
- TTM vs Swallows
The two newcomers are expected to deliver a free-flowing game that will entertain. Both sides have more than 10 new players each, including new defensive combinations. We can expect mistakes.
Prediction: TTM 2-3 Swallows
- Baroka vs Golden Arrows
Bakgaga started well with big wins over Maritzburg United and Black Leopards (2-1 and 3-1), but Arrows have their tails up after an unexpected 3-1 win over SuperSport. Both teams should score at least one goal each.
Prediction: Baroka 2-2 Arrows
- AmaZulu vs Black Leopards
Usuthu, with a home draw against Pirates and a slim loss at Galaxy, will have too much motivation to get the result against a Leopards with two straight losses.
Prediction: AmaZulu 3-1 Leopards
- SuperSport vs Stellenbosch FC
Matsatsantsa have a mixed bag of results from four games that include two cup games, but this means they’re fitter than a Stellenbosch with two draws in two games.
Prediction: SuperSport 2-1 Stellenbosch
- Chiefs vs Galaxy
Chiefs are the team with the biggest pressure in Mzansi after two 3-0 losses against rivals Sundowns and Pirates. With a total of two added Cup games, expect Amakhosi to be fitter and too aggressive for a Galaxy with one draw and a 1-0 win over Swallows.
- Prediction: Chiefs 3-1 Galaxy.
All games will kick off at 19:30.
