Anele Ngcongca has lost his life in a car accident in KwaZulu Natal in the early hours of Monday after joining AmaZulu from Mamelodi Sundowns last week.
While Sundowns nor AmaZulu are yet to release any statements, the deeply sad news was revealed by leading outlet FARPost via social media on Monday morning.
"Former Bafana Bafana defender Anele Ngcongca has passed on after a car accident in KwaZulu Natal. He had just joined AmaZulu.
"#FARPost is deeply saddened and conveys its condolences to Ngcongca's family. May his soul rest in peace," added the report.
The 33-year-old right-back was born in Gugulethu, Cape Town before later leading a successful career in Europe and for Bafana Bafana for over a decade.
