A lot of games took place across Europe’s five big leagues on Saturday with Real Madrid ending Atletico Madrid's 26-game unbeaten run to move within three points of their rivals.

After confirming their qualification to the next round of the Champions League in midweek, Casemiro headed Real in front after 15 minutes with Jan Oblak scoring an own goal late on after Dani Carvajal's long-range effort bounced off the post onto Atletico goalkeeper.

In other games in Laliga, Valencia and Athletic Bilbao played to an exciting 2-2 draw with Sevilla moving up to fifth after Xabier Etxeita's late own goal earned them a 1-0 victory over Getafe.

In the Bundesliga, VfB Stuttgart scored three times in 10 minutes to beat Borussia Dortmund, 5-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday to maintain their unbeaten run on the road since promotion.

Bayern Munich had to come from a goal behind for the fifth consecutive league game to rescue a 1-1 draw at Union Berlin but still held on to the top spot, ahead of RB Leipzig, who beat Werder Bremen 2-0, on goal difference.

In the Serie A, Verona leapfrogged Lazio into the top six with a 2-1 victory at the Stadio Olimpico. Felipe Caicedo drew Lazio level after an own goal from Manuel Lazzari on the stroke of half-time but Adrien Tameze grabbed the winner in the 67th minute.

In another game, Torino forward Andrea Belotti scored his 100th goal for the club in all competitions but it proved to be less as they lost 3-2 at home to Udinese.

Serie A results

In Ligue 1, Marseille reduced between them and leaders PSG with a 2-1 home win over Monaco. Second-placed Marseille, who have a match in hand, prevailed thanks to early goals by Florian Thauvin and Dario Benedetto as they moved on to 27 points from 12 games.
