Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided the latest fitness update on Joel Matip and Diogo Jota as the Reds prepare to take on Burnley.
Ther German revealed Matip could be in contention for the tie against the Clarets, but Matip is still a few weeks away.
The defender has been missing since the draw with West Bromwich Albion on December 27 due to an adductor injury.
“So, first and foremost, Joel is in full training," said Matip during his pre-match conference.
“Now we have to make a decision and we will see how that will be until tomorrow. Yesterday he trained completely normal.
“Diogo is still a few weeks away, I don’t know exactly how long but it will not be in the next one or two weeks. He needs time, the injury needs time.”
Jota had scored an impressive nine goals in 17 appearances before the injury, having arrived from Wolves during the summer.
The recovery and return of Jota in particular will be welcome news, especially with the Reds struggling in front of goal in recent games.
Klopp's side have not been able to score a single goal in the last three matches, which has seen them drop to fourth on the table.
