Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has ruled out any possibility of defender Calum Chambers leaving the club during the January transfer window.
Chambers picked up a knee injury in December 2019 after Arteta's appointment and has been working to regain his full fitness. However, despite the England international recovering from the injury, he has fallen down the pecking order this campaign.
The 26-year-old has only featured once for the north London side and it came against Dundalk in a dead-rubber Europa League fixture. The defender who had been previously loaned out to Middlesbrough and Fulham has linked with a move away from the Gunners but Arteta says he wants to keep him at the Emirates.
"I don’t think that is going to happen," he replied when asked if Chambers would be loaned out.
"I am really happy with Calum. He has gone through a really difficult period. He has worked so hard. He has looked really good in the last few weeks in training. He is not even thinking about his knee right now. We want to give him minutes when we can because he is a player that we believe in."
The Gunners will take on Southampton on Tuesday night in their next fixture of the Premier League.
