Zimbabwean striker Tinotenda Kadewere, also known as Tino, is making big waves in 2021 with French giants Lyon.
📚 Kadewere's background
Tino was born in Harare and made his professional debut for Harare City in 2015 as a 19-year-old. Things moved pretty quickly for him from there; the striker made his Swedish Allsvenskan debut in August of that year for Djurgardens.
Kadewere signed for Ligue 2 club Le Havre in July of 2018 and a year-and-a-half later, he made his big break, arriving at the Groupama Stadium to sign for Lyon in a deal worth 12m. Tino spent the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign with Le Havre. To date, he has 18 caps for Zimbabwe.
🎧 On song in 2021
2020-21 is Kadewere's first season as a Lyon player and he's gotten off to a flying start. He's got nine goals & three assists in 20 Ligue 1 appearances for the club and is their joint-second top-scorer, behind skipper Memphis Depay on 11. He bagged a brace last night in Lyon's 5-0 rout of Saint-Étienne. He also scored the only goal when Lyon beat champions PSG a fortnight before Christmas.
🧮 Adjusting to a new role
There are only two points separating Lyon in third and PSG in first place at the summit of Ligue 1. It's bound to be a tight title race, for a change, and Tino Kadewere will be a key figure for Lyon between now and May.
There's no doubt that Tino Kadewere will continue to develop positively as a player alongside the likes of Memphis Depay and Houssem Aouar. Watch this space.
