European Roundup: Suarez brace sends Atleti ten points clear as PSG falls

Luis Suarez scored a brace as Atletico Madrid beat Cadiz 4-2 to go ten points clear at the top of Laliga table.

Suárez scored a goal in each half to reach 14 league goals this season, marking his best-ever league start in Spain and becoming the league's leading scorer with the win being their eighth in a row.

In another match, Barcelona managed their fifth win in a row after a 2-1 win over Bilbao with the host's goals scored by Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann. The win saw them hit the 40 point mark, the same number of points as arch-rivals Real Madrid even though they have a better goal difference.

Other results saw Celta Vigo and Granada game end in a scoreless draw with the same results being experienced in the match between Getafe and Alaves.

In France, Mauricio Pochettino suffered his first defeat as the PSG manager as lowly Lorient fought back to claim a dramatic 3-2 victory.

Neymar scored two penalties but the visitors collapsed late on at the Stade du Moustoir, as Nigerian Terem Moffi netted an injury-time winner.

Still in France, Marseille's scheduled Ligue 1 clash at home to Rennes was postponed three hours before kick-off after a section of the club fans stormed the club's training ground. In Serie A, Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed a penalty but his blushes were spared as Ante Rebic tucked away the rebound to help AC Milan win 2-1 at Bologna and maintain their Serie A lead. Inter Milan thrashed Benevento 4-0 at San Siro to move two points off their city rivals with Juventus remaining in touch with the top two after their 2-0 triumph at Sampdoria.
