FC Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has admitted that finding new players for the club will depend on who is elected in the club’s next presidential elections.
Barca has misfired this season with rumors rife that they are expected to sign big-name players in the coming summer to revamp their side; Dortmund’s Erling Halaand and French star Kylian Mbappe being the names they have been linked with
And ahead of their league game with Elche, Koeman said: “Haaland or Mbappé? That will depend on the new president. We have to focus on ourselves. Important games are coming up.”
The tactician who has been under pressure further revealed that he will have to wait for the new man in charge too to know if he is still wanted by the club and insisted that they still had a chance of winning the league title.
“It will be the new president who defines the future of the coach and the team. We have to wait until 8 March.
“We can fight for the league. The next two games are very important. We also know we have to go back to play for the Copa del Rey. I don’t think a game is more important than another, we can fight for both competitions,” he added.
Barca who were held to a 1-1 draw by Cadiz in their last league game is placed fourth with 47 points; eight points below leaders Atletico Madrid.
