Harambee Stars step up preparations ahead of three friendlies 

Kenya national team Harambee Stars stepped up preparations on Monday ahead of the upcoming three friendlies. 

Last week, Football Kenya Federation revealed it had lined up three matches for Harambee Stars ahead of the upcoming final rounds of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers. 19 local-based players initially called up took part in the evening session with Wazito trio Peter Odhiambo, Johnstone Omurwa and Kevin Kimani, Gor Mahia duo Kenneth Muguna and John Macharia, and Nairobi City Stars Oliver Maloba missing the session due to club assignments in the BetKing Premier League while Gor Mahia’s  Benson Omalla is out on school assignments.

The players settled in at camp on Sunday and will leave on Tuesday, allowing them to report to their respective clubs on Wednesday.

The national team will face South Sudan on March 13, 2021, in their first friendly, and will proceed to host Tanzania in back-to-back matches played on March 15, 2021, and March 18, 2021, in Nairobi.

The final round matches of the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers will see Kenya host Egypt on March 22, 2021, before traveling to Togo for the final qualifying match on March 30, 2021

Stars will be looking to make yet another appearance at the continental showpiece, after breaking a 15-year jinx in the 2019 edition.
