Zenit St Petersburg fans offered free COVID-19 vaccine with ticket before Russian Premier League clash

Zenit St Petersburg fans have been offered the chance to get their COVID-19 vaccine before their game today.

Russian Premier League table-toppers face Akhmat Grozny today at the Gazprom Arena.

The reigning champions have made the Sputnik V vaccine available to all supporters.

The Russian-developed vaccine has a 91 percent effectiveness and can be accepted by fans any time between now and the end of the season.

A club statement read: “The Sputnik V vaccine will be available to all visitors to the match aged over 18.

“Please bring your passport and national health card with you and you’ll be required to be seen by a medical professional for approval before the vaccination.

“The mobile vaccination station will open on the third floor of Stand C near sectors C110-111 and will be in operation at all Zenit home games until the end of the 2020/21 season.”

Take-up of the Sputnik V vaccine in Russia has been slow, according to a report by the BBC.

Despite data in the Lancet medical journal showing it was 91 percent effective against coronavirus, there has been a reluctance to get the jab in Russia.
