Manchester City pursuit of Jack Grealish might be off after it emerged that Aston Villa has slapped a £100m price tag on their captain.
Grealish who was heavily linked with a move to Man United last summer inked a new deal recently after saving his side from relation lasts season with Villa hopeful that their boyhood hero will still be at the club for a longer time.
City are said to be on the lookout for another midfielder and see Grealish’s experience in the league as a valuable addition but the hefty tag by is proving to be too much for them according to a report from the Telegraph.
Villa who are having a good season have struggled without their captain who is expected to return to action this weekend when the Premier League resumes; the 25-year-old netting six times and tallying 10 assists in 22 appearances.
City are in the market for a striker to replace Sergio Aguero and with Erling Haaland on top of their list, they feel that the tag put on Villa will jeopardize a move for some of their targets in the coming transfer window.
Dortmund have insisted that Haaland won't leave the club for anything less than €150 million, it could be difficult for the Citizens to also sign Grealish.
