UEFA fines Manchester United for 'improper conduct'

UEFA has fined Manchester United £6,000 for 'improper conduct' after five players were booked during their 2-0 win over Granada.

Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw, and Nemanja Matic were all shown yellow cards in their first leg tie of the Europa League quarter-finals. The Red Devils will miss the services of Shaw, Maguire, and McTominay for the return leg as the trio is suspended.

Centre referee Artur Dias was heavily criticized for giving United five yellows having committed 12 fouls compared to Granada who had only two players booked, with 14 fouls.

"Losing three players is not a good position to be in. I don't know we deserved those five yellow cards or however many we got, but that happened," said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Premier League club has 90 days to pay the fine, which was handed down by UEFA's Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body on Wednesday.
