Kevin De Bruyne could be fit for the Carabao Cup final

Manchester City has received a timely boost with the news that midfielder Kevin de Bruyne could be fit for their Carabao Cup Final against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Belgian midfielder went off early in the second half of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea and the club is expected to learn the full extent of his ankle injury on Monday.

Amid fears that the player could be out for more weeks, The Telegraph reports that there doesn’t appear to be damage to the ligaments despite having a swollen ankle.

The player however is expected to miss the club’s Wednesday’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa but could return over the weekend for the Tottenham clash.

Should he fail to make the tie, City expects their playmaker to be fit for the Champions League semi-final tie with Paris Saint-Germain later this month having missed four weeks with a hamstring injury earlier in the season.
