Schalke 04 was finally relegated from the Bundesliga on Tuesday after a turbulent couple of seasons. Die Königsblauen will be competing in the 2.Bundesliga next season after 30 seasons in the top flight.

It's official: We will be playing in the 2. Bundesliga next season. Gutted. pic.twitter.com/czgzx1H0Ul
Schalke's 0-1 loss to Arminia Bielefeld on Tuesday was their 21st of the season. They have just two wins this season and are on track to have the second-worst season in Bundesliga history, behind only a 1965-66 Tasmania Berlin team that only managed 10 points in a season.
Schalke will go through a bloodletting this summer as the club looks to get rid of any large contracts that are still on the books. Weston McKennie has already been sold to Juventus, and don't be surprised if every Schalke player you've ever heard of plays for a different club next season. With a debt of about €200 million due to bad management, anything is conceivable.
Schalke finished second in the Bundesliga three seasons ago, and they've now been relegated to the second tier. How easily the tables were turned on them!
Good luck in the 2.Bundesliga, Schalke.
