Dutch international Memphis Depay is on the brink of joining Laliga giants FC Barcelona.
Depay was strongly linked with a move to Camp Nou last summer but a deal didn’t materialize despite Barca manager Ronald Koeman admitting that he wanted the player to boost his attack.
The deal though is set to happen soon with Spanish portal Football Espana reporting that the Dutchman will be moving to Catalonia in June on a free transfer.
Depay’s contract with Lyon will be expiring next month and looks set to agree on a contract before the European Championships kicks off with the player said to be interested in a move to the team despite earlier reports indicating that he would only commit to the club’s course if manager Koeman’s future is guaranteed at the club.
French outlet L’Equipe further states that the final details of the deal are still being confirmed with Depay’s representatives and a formal announcement is expected before he joins up with Frank De Boer’s squad for the Euros.
Apart from Depay, Koeman wants to bring Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum to the club with Manchester City defender Eric Garcia the other player said to be on his way to the club too; all set to arrive at the club on free deals.
