Newcastle United were relegated from the Premier League during the 2015/16 season and the question on everyone's lips was, what went wrong?
It was a campaign filled with ups and downs for the Magpies, who were out of the relegation zone for just 10 matchdays out of 37 this season.
Steve McLaren was in charge of the team at the start of the campaign but was replaced midway by Rafael Benitez, who had been sacked by Real Madrid.
In the end, it was a losing battle for the former Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Liverpool manager, and any were left thinking maybe, just maybe, he could have guided the tea to safety had he arrived in the northeast sooner.
Perhaps one thing many fans could not understand is why, or how the team was relegated yet they had some players who went on to shine for other clubs.
We take a look at the heavily talented team that could not, somehow, find a way out of their troubles.
Current Liverpool midfield dynamo Georginio Wijnaldum is one of the top players who played during the ill-fated campaign.
Wijnaldum finished the campaign as the top scorer with nine goals, one ahead of Aleksandar Mitrovic, who managed eight.
The Serbian is another high-profile player who was part of the squad, having been signed during the summer for £13m.
Fulham is currently with Fulham, who were recently relegated from the Premier League after just a single season in the top-flight.
There were also Chancel Mbemba and Florian Thauvin who, alongside Wijnaldum and Mitrovic cost a total of £48m.
Who are the other players that starred for the Magpies during that campaign, and where are they now?
