🏆 EURO 2020: Patrik Schick on the double as Czech Republic stun Scotland at Hampden Park

Patrik Schick scored a wonderful brace as the Czech Republic opened their EURO 2020 campaign with a 2-0  win against Scotland on Monday afternoon.

The Bayer Leverkusen star scored in each side of the break, with the second a sublime strike from the halfway line.

Scotland were the first to attack in the fifth minute when a loose ball fell to John McGinn, who unleashed a goal-ward shot but was blocked.

The opening quarter was devoid of clear chances though, with Scotland getting another chance in the 18th minute when Robertson got ahead of Vladimir Coufal down the left and pulled the ball in low for Dykes at the near post but his effort went inches wide.

Their good work was however undone just before the break when the Czechs took the lead thanks to a half-cleared corner by the Scots.

First, Coufal delivered an excellent ball from the left, with Hanley's glancing header setting up Schick, who headed past the keeper to give his side the lead with his 12 goal for the national team.

Scotland sought to deliver a perfect response immediately after the break, and they came close when Jack Hendry hammered a ball that for a minute seemed to be going in, but it bounced off the crossbar.

With Scotland chasing an equaliser, the Czechs had their moment of magic in the 52nd minute and it was Schick once again with what could be the goal of the tournament.

Hendry, who'd stepped forward since half-time, received the ball from Scott McTominay in midfield but was caught on it, leaving Scotland vulnerable on the break.

It was worked to Schick who spotted Marshall off his line and from barely inside the Scotland half, bent it high and inside the near post to double the visitors' lead.

Scotland had half-chances to try and get back in the game, but they were always going to have it rough after allowing the second goal.

Despite all their efforts, the visitors recorded maximum points ahead of their next match against Croatia.

Scotland on the other hand will next play England, who beat Croatia 1-0 on Sunday evening.
