🏆 EURO 2020: Wales beat Turkey to move within touching distance of the Round of 16

Aaron Ramsey's first-half strike and a stoppage-time goal from Connor Roberts gave Wales a 2-0 win on Wednesday evening and all but confirmed the Dragons' progression to the Round of 16 of the ongoing EURO 2020 tournament.

Wales drew 1-1 against Switzerland in their opening match, but moved top of Group A courtesy of today's win, even though they could lose the spot if Italy win against the Switz.

Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey combined well as early as the sixth minute when the latter slipped a pass through fro the Juventus man, but Uğurcan Çakır made a wonderful save to push it out for a corner kick.

It was an end to end in the opening quarter, with both teams trying to find an opening for the first goal.

Ramsey missed a clear chance in the 24th minute, but it could not have counted anyway as the flag went up moments later.

The former Arsenal man them missed another seater, blazing the ball over the bar when through on goal with only the keeper to beat.

Wales were the better side and kept knocking on the Turkish goal, and they finally got the breakthrough with three minutes to halftime.

Bale delivered a wonderful over-the-top ball for Ramsey, who chested it down before tucking it past the approaching Cakir.

Turkey came back for the second half more composed and lodged a number of attacks, which were easily repelled by the Wales defense.

Yilmaz got the chance to equalise in the 55th minute, but his effort went out wide even though the flag wsa raised shortly after.

It was Wales though who got the chance to add to their lead on the hour-mark after Bale was brought down in the box, earning his side a penalty.

He however inexcusably blazed his effort over the bar, much to the amusment of his colleagues.

Ramsey then created a near-perfect chance for Bale in the 79th minute, but the Real Madrid man's effort went straight at the goalkeeper.

Wales' number 10 then made a timely challenge to ensure the Turks did not score when Mert Müldür found some space inside the box.

There was an ugly incident late on as emotions boiled, leading to a brawl in the Wales box which led to three players seeing yellow cards.

Roberts then sealed the win in the 95th minute, with Bale once again heavily involved as he laid the ball on a platter for him to easily tuck it in for a 2-0 win.
